Before attaining the position of Search Executive, I had no idea what an SEO Agency was. If you are still clueless of what an SEO Agency does then, let me give you a quick overview.
To put it in simple terms, a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Agency, works with a client’s website to make it rank higher in search engines. For example, if I hired a SEO Agency to improve the visibility of my website in search engines, they would apply various techniques utilising on and off page optimisation (using keywords and links) and other techniques like increasing the social presence of the site through various social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and using pay per click (PPC). All these methods would drive more traffic to my website which in turn would boost the ranking of the site. The higher the site ranks in search engines, the higher the chances of users clicking on my website link.

Qualifications Required To Work In A SEO Agency

After reading the description of an SEO agency, one might think you would be required to have a lot of technical background in computing. That is not the case. A basic knowledge in HTML would be advantageous but is not necessary as a good agency would have a top notch training programme. A majority of employees usually have marketing backgrounds but I have personally seen employees with degrees ranging from English, creative writing, engineering and computing just to name a few. Employees who had degrees in English, creative writing or arts, primary focus on content management like blogs and other link building activities. Those with a technical background focus on website optimisation, which include more back end coding practices. The business degree holders are primarily in charge of PPC campaigns as these involve a bit of mathematical knowledge.

A Typical Day In A SEO Agency

The great thing about working in an SEO Agency is that no two days are the same. Although you have a rough idea of what your task might be on a daily basis, Google could come up with a new algorithm change on how it ranks websites. It would then be your job to learn about this and pass this knowledge on to your projects and your team mates as well. Keeping up to date on current SEO practices and market trends is of key importance for any SEO Executive. A practice which was popular for a few months could easily be replaced so you have to make sure you keep an eye out for new innovations.

Clients would also require updates on your activities which can be at random times. Depending on the client, you might have monthly meetings where you have to present or discuss the activities done for that period. Therefore being articulate and able to speak clearly would be of great importance. Organisational skills would also be useful especially when you want to get information really quickly.

With any relevant degree, enthusiasm, keen interest internet marketing and the skills mentioned above, you would be a sure fit in any SEO Agency.

4Ps Marketing is an SEO agency and PPC agency , 4Ps Marketing offers integrated SEO, PPC, Social Media, Online Display Advertising and Web Analytic consultancy.

A career as an IT professional is not always very well understood because the job duties can vary so much from one company to another. In general, to be an IT professional you will need to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or engineering, or a similar degree in something like information technology. An IT professional provides the tools for businesses to be successful As with any career, there are undoubtedly going to be aspects that you love about your job and job duties that you dread.

Fun Parts of Your Job

For people who enjoy working with computers and problem-solving, this could be an ideal career. As long as you are a good fit for the company and are provided appropriate tools with which to do your job, working with software and computer systems all day could be a lot of fun. As computers evolve, professionals must evolve with them in order to meet the needs and expectations of clients.

Many of the job duties of an IT professional relate to managing different types of technology and in some cases, getting them to work together. In a way, that gives each person a certain level of autonomy and creative control over what they are doing. Some IT professionals cannot tell you why something works the way it does, but it does work. Just as architects are necessary for construction projects, IT professionals are necessary for computers.

Your career will always be in demand. The last 30 years or so have revolutionized the way people do their jobs. Very few people would be happy to use pen and paper or a calculator to do what a computer can do in a few seconds. Because this field is in demand, IT professionals have more job security than many other people with similar education.

Negative Aspects for IT Professionals

An IT professional will spend the vast majority of their time working on or with computers. As result of the technology that improves each year, you should expect to spend time outside work familiarizing yourself with new technology. Individuals who prefer to leave work at work and home at home, may not be pleased to spend leisure time on work-related learning, even if they are paid for it.

The fact that being an IT professional can mean different things in different industries could make it difficult to become an expert in this field. The sheer act of multitasking and having multiple, evolving job duties has resulted in an inability to acclimate well to a new employer, or even to a departmental change.

Being an IT professional takes attention to detail and skill with all the different parts of computers. It can be frustrating and exhilarating to spend your career helping others use their computers. It’s important to note that in today’s world, having knowledgeable IT professionals is vital to businesses everywhere.

The oil industry is always looking for people who know their way around welding equipment. Qualified welders can earn a lot of money working offshore, with some oil rig based welding jobs paying double the average salary of land based welding jobs.

To get a job welding in the oil industry, you will need to be certified in handling the required welding gear. If you know how to use profile cutting equipment, stick welders, MIG welders, and other welding equipment, then that is a nice bonus.

Most offshore welding jobs are considered to be senior jobs; however there are some entry level positions. Rig welding still pays well, for example, but requires less experience and fewer qualifications than many other welding positions.

What qualifications are needed?

To get a job working as a welder in the oil industry, you will need to be certified up to “6 GR” by the CITB. Earning this certification requires that you perform certain welds, and have their standard checked by X-Ray testing. Your welds must be precise, and of a very high standard. If you don’t have any experience with welding, then you should really take a course or an apprenticeship to get used to working with the kinds of welding equipment that you will see on an oil rig.

When you apply for a job, you may get tested in the use of profile cutting gear and specialist welding equipment. These tests are necessary to ensure that you are capable of delivering welds at a high standard outside of a classroom environment. Oil rigs are isolated environments, and if you make a mistake while welding something important on a rig then you could be putting your life, and the lives of your colleagues, at risk. The companies know this, and want to make sure that only the best welders get sent out to the rigs, even for entry level positions.

What’s it like working on an oil rig?

Working on an oil rig is physically demanding, and there is an element of risk. If you are stationed on the oil rig then you will need to get used to spending long stretches of time away from home. The pay is good, however, so many younger workers are willing to make the sacrifice in order to build up some savings.

Many oil rig vacancies are not advertised, but instead offered up first of all to friends or family of rig workers. So, if you know someone who works on an oil rig then you will have a head start when it comes to applying for jobs. If you want to have even more of a leg-up, then ask your friend what kind of profile cutting gear and other welding equipment they work with, and the materials that they use most of the time. Knowing this information in advance will help you prepare for any tests that the company might throw at you. Once you have a foot in the door, you should have lots of opportunities for promotion and extra training in the long term.

This article was written by Amy Fowler on behalf of Westermans International; suppliers of welding equipment and machinery.

If you are planning to get hired for an offshore job, as a first step you need to read up on the nature of the work done there. I’ll be honest – it is not easy. If you discuss it with people already employed offshore about the prospects offered, they will all let you know the work is tough. But, the pay is great. Making £40,000 per annum – while working just 6 months a year and with 1 year of on the job training – is possible.

The North Sea off Britain’s coast is home to many gas platforms. You can also work on any floating rig, FPSO, or offshore oil platform around the world.

Most positions require hard work and perseverance, so those who cannot fit in these qualities in their work style had better decline offers to work on an oil or gas platform. Remember, more than the salary, your drive and readiness to take on the most tedious of jobs is what counts to a boss or company. There’s no place for smooth and effortless labor here – it’s gritty, tough, and working 12 hours a day is the norm.

It’s important to present detailed curriculum vitae to your offshore jobs recruiter. It must state comprehensively all your qualifications, past experiences in the same field if any, and your aptitude for doing work. Any certifications possessed may also be specified since this may fetch you a better position on a rig. Welding tickets, drilling certs, or previous experience are all bonuses.

Also, all offshore jobs require a fitness or heath certificate from the prospective employee. Therefore it’s necessary to undergo a routine blood exam including certain specific tests to rule out infectious diseases. X-rays may be required as well. The good news is your employer will pay for all the medical work. Your performance in the interview should be exemplary though.

Entry level offshore jobs may not stress on experience or qualifications. For these types of jobs, emphasis will be on your ability to grasp the basics, work in a team, and take orders safely. A high school diploma is the only credential insisted upon for entry level jobs like roustabout. Advanced positions like driller or toolpusher will require years of experience either onshore or offshore.

The labour turnover in offshore oilrig jobs can be quite high due to the inability of the workers to keep up to the demands of the job. Adherence to timing schedules is kept strict on the site and crew shifts are fixed at 8-12 hour intervals. The absence of a team member upsets the entire schedule; therefore a slack attitude may just cost you your job! But if you are willing to work, be honest, and most important be safe – working on an offshore oil or gas platform can be perfect for you.

It is safe to say that nobody enjoys being interviewed for a job and now the cost-benefits of video conferencing against travelling has led to many employers opting for a video conferencing interview. This is mostly carried out when the candidate is situated a considerable distance from the place where the interview is expected to take place and it is something that catches many good candidates out. The reason why many strong candidates fail a video conferencing interview is because they fail to understand that many aspects of a video conferencing interview are different to a face to face interview. If you have an interview coming up which will be taking place via video conferencing, here are five tips to help you get improve your chances of pleasing your interviewer:

1. Don’t move around too much

Unless you interviewer has a high quality HD video conferencing system with a high picture refresh rate, the chances are that when you move around, it will create a grainy image on the interviewers television screen which can annoy the interviewer. The fact of the matter is you do not know what kind of video conferencing system the interviewer is using and you therefore need to assume that the interviewer has a poor video conferencing system. If you are one of the many people who begins to move around or has a tendency to pick things up when you are nervous or during an interview then make sure that you don’t have anything near you that you may pick up and start fidgeting with during the interview. You want to try to provide your interviewer with the best experience so that he/she remembers you for the right reasons.

2. Prepare the environment

Everything that the interview can see on his/her television screen is a reflection on you and the interviewer will use the environment around you to help him/her evaluate your application therefore your room should look professional. You don’t need to go as far as re wallpapering your room and posting printouts of research papers related to your job on your wall but the room should be clean and look well organised. You should carefully where you place the camera for the video conferencing system, if you one part of your room looks more appealing than another part of your room then consider moving your video conferencing system so that it shows this section of your room.

3. Don’t forget that you are being interviewed

For most, a video conferencing interview is unfamiliar territory but a casual chat with a friend over a video conferencing system is not which leads many people to act like they would when they are talking to one of their video conferencing friends about last night’s football match. Never forget that you are being interviewed and that you should act and talk professionally.

4. Use ‘Picture in Picture’

A good video conferencing system will allow ‘picture in picture’ functionality which means that half of your screen will display your interviewer and the other half will show you what the interviewer can see. Use this feature to make sure that what the interviewer sees what you want them to see. Have a quick glance at yourself every now and again and if you notice that you are talking too fast or if you notice that your body language seems to be giving a negative vibe then you can make appropriate adjustments.

5. Practice makes perfect

Every recruitment guru that you speak to will you that it is vital that prepare for your interview well in advance by maybe rehearsing answers to popular questions or by asking a friend to interview and a video conferencing interview is no different. However, video conferencing adds an extra element to your pre interview preparations in that it is important for you look and sound professional through a video conferencing system. Set up a video conferencing interview with a friend and ask them to interview you via the video conferencing system. Once the interview has finished you can ask them to give you feedback on how well the interview went. Ask your friend questions like whether they could hear you properly or whether you gave off a professional vibe.

Making career planning a priority must always be a part of your resolutions. With the world economy gradually weakening, most people are increasingly worried about their security of their jobs. The recent global economic recession has had dire effects on all industries and the job market is no exception. Without playing smart and following some personal finance tips, you can never get back a grip on your personal finances. Have you ever thought how you could boost your career in the coming 12 months? This is a step that is most often overlooked by most youngsters and therefore, you need to be aware of the importance of your career in order to become a financially responsible citizen. Here are some effective personal finance tips for you to know and follow to enhance your career prospects.

Keep a document of all your accomplishments: Make sure you have documents ready that will sum up what you’ve done in the previous year to make yourself an indispensable employee. Also sum up the projects that you’ve worked on in the last year so that you may be able to evaluate your contribution in making it a success. List all your responsibilities so that if and when you change your company you may have lots of things to show your new employer and impress him in the process.

Keep your portfolio updated: Many people are too lazy to update their CV and this bars them from getting noticed. It is wise to update your resume from time to time so that you do not miss out on any good opportunities that come in your way. Make sure you document any changes in employment, any new responsibilities taken on in your current job and any change in job title.

Create an online presence: Are you using social media websites to stay up-to-date about your career? This is another big financial mistake that you’re making and thus you need to craft your online presence to get better financial results. As employers are always watching, you must pay more attention to building a better presence on the web and boosting your visibility. According to some recent surveys, it has been seen that Facebook and LinkedIn are being used by more employers to find new recruits or at least to check up on people who they have received job applications from.

Keep on upgrading your skills: Your student days are never over and therefore you must know that there is no end to learning and acquiring new skills that can enable you to become as asset of a particular company. Keep on upgrading your skills so that you may be able to enhance your responsibilities and become a more valuable employee.

Managing your personal finance is very important if you’re interested in boosting your career prospects. Always have a fixed financial goal in front of you so that you may walk towards it without facing much difficulty. Always be motivated to plan your career in order to reach the pinnacle of success.

You are deciding which career to choose and what educational track to take in pursuit of that goal, but where does the influence of your family play into this decision? In some families, this can be a large influence on a person’s choice in the path he or she takes in life, especially if certain career fields have a long tradition in the family’s past.

One case where tradition is a prevalent issue deals with the military. In some families, there is the possibility of two or more generations joining the military, such as the army. It can be a great source of pride for the individual choosing to follow in his or her relative’s footsteps, and is usually greatly supported in the family. The individual may have heard stories of the older relative’s service, good memories from that time, and the benefits of following this path. Schooling may even follow the same track as the older relative, being a military academy, prep school, or other institution that would offer effective preparation for this type of career choice.

This can also come in the guise of a general choice in career on your own part. If the person chooses to pursue a certain career, this can engender family support or condemnation depending on the family’s values, history, and attitudes. When choosing a career, it is important to be aware of this influence, and to make a choice based on what is best for the individual.

Countless people have looked to astrology for helpful advice regarding their day to day life and love matches. Each of the star signs is associated with various personality traits, so it is no surprise that certain jobs are also more appropriate for people born under certain astrological signs. Star signs can greatly effect career paths by making some people excel in some areas while others tend to do better in other careers.

People born under some signs are likely to be outspoken and determined, and they seem to be natural born leaders. Aries and Leos tend to possess these personality traits, so it is no surprise that they often find themselves in leadership positions such as managers, CEOs, police officers, or military leaders. Pisces and Aquarius people, however, are often creative, intelligent, and free spirited. For them the best careers are often in artistic or design fields. They may also be drawn to working music or theater.

Each star sign is suited to a variety of careers. Tauruses often find themselves in banking or accounting due to their natural attention to detail. Geminis are intelligent and enjoy seeing the world, so they are suited to careers involving travel. Sagittarians also do well in traveling careers as well as public relations due to their love of travel and high energy. Cancers tend to have a nurturing nature and can make excellent nurses and teachers. Scorpios and Virgos are intelligent, analytical, and hard working. These traits make them excellent for careers in law and research. Capricorns are intelligent, hard working, and reliable. This makes them suited for many high powered careers and careers involving finance. They often find great success as doctors, lawyers, or accountants.

Star signs have a great deal of impact on people’s individual personality traits and interests. By knowing what career paths are a good match to the traits associated with their star sign, people can find jobs they will love and excel at.

A functional family business generally relates to one or more members having partial ownership and commitment towards the success of the shared enterprise. In many countries, hugely successful firms happen to be family owned. It is also possible for a family business to have owners or managers that are not related in any way, yet family members remain involved in the management in some capacity at least.

Some of the benefits to running a family business:

The benefits to a family business have to do with the fact that there is more overall loyalty and honesty, a shared interest so to speak. However, the family partners must be aligned and share the same goals, otherwise a host of problems can arise. As far as business ethics are concerned in a family business, members are more likely to share the same values as one another, which can improve longevity and overall success. Everybody involved typically wants the business to succeed and is not there merely to make a paycheck.

What are some of the Problems that can occur in a family business?

Oftentimes many unique problems are brought about when family members take on managerial roles. It is nearly impossible to leave personal issues out of business; this seems to be one of the drawbacks of being involved in a family business. Moreover, it’s possible that members are not aligned, and until those lines of communication are opened up, the company will certainly reach an impasse. If one family member needs funds for retirement and another member needs a new car, then the business is directly affected by these expenditures, and which ones take priority over the next? Perhaps one member wants to sell, while the other wants to hold on to the business because it represents a career by which an entire future family can be supported. These are all issues worth considering when taking on a business of this magnitude. Sometimes, the best answer is to appoint one person to make all of the decisions, a founder that is elected by individuals from within the family. Perhaps choosing a family member with an education is the best bet; preferably a member with a degree related to business and accounting.

In generations past, sons typically followed their fathers into business. Whether a bookseller, doctor, lawyer, miner or farmer, sons were expected to learn their father’s trade or profession. This trend has been changing for the last few decades and today children do not automatically work in the same occupation as their father. However, a few, some of them very famous, did continue the family business and have had a significant impact on the political, social, and artistic scenes.

Father and son, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were both elected President of the United States, together occupying the White House for a dozen years. G.H.W. Bush as Commander-in-Chief during the 1st Gulf War and G.W. Bush in the same role for the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, there is no denying the families affect on world politics.

Influential British novelist, Martin Amis followed his father Sir Kingsley Amis, author of Lucky Jim, into the world of literature. Each won the Somerset Maugham Award for a book they had written before age 35, an honor separated by 19 years.

In 1895, David D. Palmer, considered to be the father of modern chiropractic medicine performed his first procedure for which he was arrested for practicing medicine without a license. Together he and his son, BJ Palmer, established the Palmer School of Chiropractic and championed the non-invasive, drug-free alternative health care.

The child going into the family business is not always a son who follows his father’s footstep. Oscar award winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow no doubt learned some of her craft from her mother as surely as siblings Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave, and Corin Redgrave learned a bit of theirs from their father, Sir Michael Redgrave. The famous British acting family has continued with another generation of talented actors including Joely Richardson, Natasha Richardson and Jemma Redgrave.
